Ready to make a difference?

The Ethical Policy Debate classes are designed to show you just how complex moral dilemmas can be. People who think that there are always simple solutions to big problems probably haven't studied those problems closely. You'll look at over a dozen ethical dilemmas that address current challenges and study the technical details that make the case truly complex.

Working collaboratively with other students using the Ethics Bowl model of conversation, you'll explore these controversial issues. In-depth research and instruction in ethical theory will for the basis of a policy proposal that you'll present to the class at the end of the semester. In the process, you'll learn concrete skills of research, presentation, policy crafting, and civil discourse.

This is the kind of work that prepares you to thoughtfully take on just about any issue, and it trains you to ground your reasoning about policy in ethics.
