Just Conversations

We help people get better at engaging in civil discourse and in becoming more civil generally. Just Conversations places participants in small groups of guided discussions about ethical issues. It exercises their ability to engage in productive and mature disagreement.

Trained moderators cover a brief amount of material that includes some basics of normative theory, common logical fallacies, and the details of a case. Participants then set off with a list of questions to guide the discussion with the moderators stepping in to point out important ethical concepts along the way. These low-key events explore important ethical questions and policy needs, and help everyone understand more about why their classmates, neighbors, friends, and fellow citizens hold the beliefs they do.

Our Next Event

Students, join us November 14 for our last Just Conversations of the semester. We'll provide food so you can chat about ethics over dinner! Also, we've partnered with a member of the psychology faculty, Dr. Grace Rivera. If you'd like, you CAN OPT INTO a psychology study related to the event (see details on the flyer below).

Please register by Friday, Nov. 10, whether or not you choose to participate in the associated study.
